Chapter 8: The Future of SSL VPN
Although SSL VPN technology has matured greatly since its inception, it has not yet reached its full potential. The process of development and meaningful enhancements is not yet complete. Technological improvements should prove to expand the capability and reliability of SSL VPN technology far beyond what it offers today.

Although many SSL VPN products started their lifetimes in similar forms, the various product vendors appear to have chosen several different paths for their product lines, which may ultimately yield very different products in the future. In addition, several technological advancements are presently occurring as this book goes to print. These improvements provide some insight as to what is in store for SSL VPN technology over the next 18 months.

In this chapter we will examine current trends in the SSL VPN marketplace and take a look at some potential future developments that may emerge as a result of those trends.
